Captain of Accra Hearts of Oak Fatawu Mohammed has ranked the performance of Asante Kotoko top strikers, Mbella Etouga and Georges Mfegue in the ongoing GPL season.
Asante Kotoko brought in the strikers from Cameroon to bolster their squad during the early days of the ongoing GPL campaign. The duo hasn’t performed badly at all.
Mbella has been exceptional with 14 goals, leading as the top scorer of the league. He has scoerd five of his GPL goals from the penalty spot for the league leaders.
His countryman, George Mfegue is gradually climbing to follow the steps of his mate. He has also scored 6 goals this season for the Porcupines.
According to the Hearts of Oak captain, the Cameroonian duo is just ordinary players and, they are not different and unique than some of the Ghanaian attackers.
Fatawu insisted some of the Ghanaian strikers are better than Mbella and Mfegue.
“We see them as normal players. They are not different. Sorry to say we have some Ghanaian strikers who are better than them. As a player, you will be hyped when you keep on scoring for teams like Hearts and Kotoko. Though things have gone well for them since their arrival and it has earned them hyping but we here are nobody, we don’t have form. Ghana we are nobody but we make sure to play different games altogether when we meet them.
“How many goals has Mbella scored from the penalty spot? Check his goals. Someone has grabbed seven/eight goals without a single penalty but compare if he has scored more of his goals from the penalty position or not. Mbella is a striker but sometimes it seems like when you play the big clubs you have that platforms for hyping so that’s the difference.
“From my point of view, I can say every player is an ordinary player. We are all ordinary players.” Fatawu told Adikanfo FM, Berekum West.
In-form Franck Mbella Etouga has attracted attention with his performances for Asante Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League clubs participating in the French Ligue 1 including Stade Rennais.
The exquisite performance from the duo has guided Kotokoâs impressive run in the league as they occupy the top spot with 44 points.
