The Black Maidens of Ghana recorded a 3-0 victory over Teranga Lionesses of Senegal in the 2nd leg of the India 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup first round qualifiers at the Accra Sports stadium on Sunday.
Coach Baba Nuhu’s side went into the match with a 1-0 advantage from the 1st leg which was played in Thies – Senegal a fortnight ago.
The Black Maidens took on the 49th minute through a solo run from captain Georgina Ayisha Aoyem.
Princess Owusu who scored the only goal in the first leg also penned her name the scoreboard once again after netting the second at the 58th minute.
Abdulai Karima also had the third goal to cement a 3-0 victory for Ghana in the second leg.
Ghana are chasing a record 7th straight FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup appearance having finished 3rd at the 2012 edition in Azerbaijan.
Ghana are confident of securing one of the tickets for the major tournament to be staged in India from October 11, 2022, to October 30, 2022.
The Maidens have never failed to make an appearance in the U-17 Women’s World Cup since the competition’s inception in 2008.
They have made the quarter-finals in the last three editions.
