Emotionally inured Ghanaians have launch daunting attack on the Kurt Okraku led Ghana Football Association (GFA) administration for what what they describe as an unimpressed method of making profit with the Black Stars via the use of the GFA App as the sole channel for airing the much await squad of the Black Stars squad for the World Cup qualifier against Nigeria on Friday.
The GFA on Sunday announced that it will “Coaches of the Black Stars will address the nation at 8:30am on Monday, March 21, 2022 ahead of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 play-offs against Nigeria.”
It also added that, “The address will stream on the Ghana Football App at 8:30 on Monday”, but silent on whether the news of national interest will feature on national television or other free to air medium.
However, at 10:20am, the time of filing this reports, almost two hours after the stipulated time, nothing has been done so far on the said App concerning the national address, leaving many frustrated.
Meanwhile, most Ghanaians and followers of the Black Stars have taken their anger to social media (Facebook, Twitter) to express their displeasure about the decision to use the App as the sole channel, and accused the FA of using the national team as though it were their personal property.
One Twitter user tweeted: “There is $12.5 million reward for qualifying the world cup and you guys are chasing Ghc5.00. Kurk Okraku paa hmm.” Another handle said, “The national team is not a property of the GFA. Let the national TV station stream this live for Ghanaians”.
“Some people have taken the Black Stars as their family inheritance…This time de3 no way… Aswearigad”, another person tweeted.
“And you want to #BringBackTheLove with this unfortunate decision? What are the state-owned media and private media there for? How can you tell us to download the GFA App, which I’m hearing for the first time, before we can access a press conference about our own national team?”, another account lamented.
