Ex-Ghanaian forward, Prince Tagoe has compared Black Stars debutant, Felix Ohene Afena-Gyan to the legend Asamoah Gyan.
Tagoe insists the Roma youngster has similar qualities as Ghana’s all-time top scorer ‘Baby Jet’ Asamoah Gyan.
Afena-Gyan had an impressive performance during his debut game for the Black Stars of Ghana against Nigeria in the World Cup qualifier play-offs at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Friday.
Felix went out during the 81st minute after picking up a knock and he was replaced by Daniel Kofi-Kyereh.
According to former 1899 Hoffenheim attacker, the senior national soccer team participated at the recent Africa Cup of Nation without an attacker and the presence of the prolific attacker against Nigeria has differentiated the team’s performance during the AFCON and their last game.
Speaking to Connect FM, Tagoe revealed, “Afena Gyan’s movement and pace upfront demonstrates that he has the qualities as an attacker.
“We played at the last AFCON without an attacker and it was a problem but Afena is a proper striker just like me and Asamoah Gyan.”
Afena-Gyan is expected to lead the attack when the Black Stars play the Super Eagles in the return leg at the Moshood Abiola Sports Stadium.
Gyan has been declared fit alongside Daniel Kofi-Kyereh to take part in the next encounter.
Tagoe believes Ghana can qualify with an away goal after they were held to goalless draw with their West African rivals at home.
