The Algerian Football Federation, have lodged an official complaint against the the Gambian referee, Bakary Papa Gassama after giving out the World Cup slot to Cameroon.
Algeria advanced to the World Cup qualifiers’ final stage after topping Group A with 14 points from six games.
Cameroon on the other hand have also qualified after topping their group, collecting 15 points from the same number of games.
The two teams then had to face each other for one of Africa’s five spots in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Despite emerging victorious 1-0 in the first leg in Cameroon, Algeria were eliminated from the World Cup qualifiers after losing the second leg 2-1 at home.
After the second-leg game, the Algerian Football Federation announced that they filed a complaint against the referee, stating that his wrong decisions affected the final result.
“The Algerian Football Federation have protested to FIFA against the scandalous refereeing that affected the final result of the game between Algeria and Cameroon,” the statement said.
“The Algerian Football Federation insist on legally using their rights to schedule a fair rematch.
“We also demand that FIFA investigate the decisions made by the referee during the game.”
