Former goaltender of the Black Stars, Fatawu Dauda has indicated how the inclusion of Salisu Mohammed, Hudson Odoi and Tariq Lamptey will help the Ghana senior national soccer team at the World Cup.
The call of Southampton center-back, Salisu Mohammed into the Black Stars of Ghana comes with different comments after Ghana’s World Cup qualification.
Rumour has it that the former Valladolid player has finally agreed to represent Ghana following the nations victory over the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the World Cup play-offs.
The GFA and other dignitaries have tried to convince the 22-year old defender but he has been turning down the national team call-up since 2019.
The Southampton defender is yet to feature at senior international level for his country, although he was initially called up.
Callum Hudson-Odoi is also weighing up international interest from Ghana with the Black Stars hoping to persuade the Chelsea winger whiles Tariq Lamptey is expected to switch allegiance from England ahead of the World Cup.
Hudson-Odoi is said to be ‘considering’ the switch ahead of the World Cup in November.
The 21-year-old has three senior caps for England with the latest of those coming in the European Championship qualifier in Kosovo in November 2019.
Under FIFA rules, players are allowed switch allegiances providing they had played no more than three competitive international games before the age of 21.
This means Hudson-Odoi would be eligible for the changeover just in time to head to Qatar with the World Cup taking place between November 21 and December 18.
Meanwhile, Lamptey has yet to make a senior international level, though he has played twice for the U-21 side for England.
According to the former goalkeeper, beefing up the squad with the trio and other players will be fruitful checking at their pedigree at the club level.
In an interview with Ghanasportspage.com Fatawu uttered;
“Adding Salisu, Tariq Lamptey and Odoi into the Black Stars will help checking at their pedigree in a club side and definitely you need to beef up your squad going into a tournament. It will help when we get get them alongside other players you didn’t mention their names. It is not bad at all.”
