Ten-men Accra Lions stunned the Anyinase-based Karela United in Accra with a goal to nil.
It was Frederick Asante’s lone goal that guided the GPL debutants to claim victory in a week 24 action despite going down by a man for over 45 minutes.
The visitors tried to enjoy the numerical advantage but the host had the chance to separate the scoreline after the 71st-minute strike from Asante.
Accra Lions went down by ten men after Daniel Awuni was sent off by the referee during the 44th minute but Karela United couldn’t take the advantage to snatch or share the spoils away.
The Lions have climbed to the 12th position with 30 points whiles the visitors have occupied the 8th position with 33 points after round 24 of the league.
Accra Lions are bound to stay in the top-flight league. Despite their debut season in the GPL, their performance hasn’t been bad.
