Coach Kassim Mingle, the head coach of Bechem United has unmasked the best defender of the ongoing Ghana Premier League.
According to the coach, Bechem United’s Emmanuel Osei Kuffuor has topped to be the best defender in the ongoing GPL season.
The 20-year old defender has so far played nineteen games this season in the GPL and has been adjudged as Man Of The Match three times.
This is his debut season in the Ghanaian top-flight league since joining the club from a Division One League side.
The center-back joined the Hunters on a three-year deal from Division One outfit Young Vipers as a replacement for Salifu Moro.
Coach Kassim believes his center-back has demonstrated an outstanding performance in his debut season and it guides him to be the best defender in the ongoing Ghana Premier League season.
The coach of the Hunters revealed during an interview with the leading Ghanaian sports site, Ghanasportspage.com when quizzed to single out the most outstanding player of the ongoing GPL season.
“You can’t single out one player. A lot of young talented players have popped and when you visit various teams you will see the young who are having a great performances. We have some young players who are doing well. Even in our team most of the players are young boys because in our previous games we have achieved the highest Man Of The Match Award of than every team. We have produced a defender who is called Emmanuel Osei Kuffuor. Very tall, six feet class. Am talking about his height. He hasn’t played in the Division 2 league before. Straight to the premiership, we build him up and now he is one of the best defenders in the country. He is the only defender to win the MOTM three times.
“He is currently the best defender because he is a new player who never played in the division two league. This is his first time playing in the premiership with an outstanding performance. On two occasions, he won the Man Of The Match Award against Kotoko back-to-back which means he is on top. We also have young talents like Clinton Duodu and Emmanuel Annor. Currently, they are all with the U-20 national team. We have young products and our goalkeeper has also kept 22 clean sheets as of now.” He ended.
Currently, Samuel Osei Kuffour has been banned by the Disciplinary Committee (DC) of the Ghana Football Association.
The defender was slapped with a two-match ban, a fine of GHC1,000 and caution against future behavior following an off-the-ball stamping on Asante Kotoko, striker, Frank Thierry Mbella Etouga during a league match on March 9, 2022, at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park at Bechem.
