RTU got their quest for survival in the 2021/22 league season boosted after defeating league leaders Asante Kotoko by 2-1 at the Aliu Mahama sports stadium in Tamale on Sunday afternoon.
It was match week 25 of the progressing season, and the Tamale based side needed their three maximum points and go ahead to fight for more to save themselves from being relegated to division one since their return to the top flight for the first time since their relegation in the 2012/2013 league season.
They rose to the occasion to defeat Asante Kotoko by 2-1 with goals from Ronald Frimpong and Victor Aidoo. Cameroonian forward Frank Mbella Etouga grabbed the consolation for Asante Kotoko from the 12-yard spot.
