Coach Samuel Boadu, Hearts of Oak tactician has disclosed vivid impressions about their victory over Accra Lions and revealed how they did to secure victory.
The Rainbows picked their first win after losing to Asante Kotoko and playing a 1-1 draw with Elmina Sharks.
Samuel Boadu’s side snatched 3-0 away victory in their matchday 26 fixture against the GPL debutants at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The GPL title holders, went into the dressing room with a goal lead after the first half courtesy Afriyie Barnieh but came back strongly to add two more goal in the second half.
Boadu disclosed that his boys played based on what they planned before going into the game.
The Rainbows came with a mindset not to allow the lads to possess ball through their high pressing football according the gaffer.
Speaking in a post match interview with StarTimes, Coach Samuel Boadu imparted, “It was a big game as you compare the way the used to possess the ball but we also came with a mindset that if we allow them to possess we will struggle so I told my boys that any moment they see them with the ball we should give them high pressing and take the ball back but we should let them chase the ball when we will get the ball back. Per what we said before the game, I think the boys did it perfectly today that’s why we secured the victory.”
“Tactically we know that they were playing five midfielders, 3-5-2 so they were many at the midfield but I told Barnieh and Suraj to block their laterals who can operate whenever we lose the ball so that our midfielders can contain the numbers of midfielders operating at the middle.”
Hearts of Oak are twelve points behind Asante Kotoko on the league table. They are back into the fourth position with 40 points.
They will dwell on Friday’s performance and go in strongly for Dreams FC when they meet at the semi-final stage of the MTN FA on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
