Titleholders Accra Hearts of Oak claimed a 3-0 victory over Accra Lions to return into the fourth position.
Daniel Afriyie Barnieh and Isaac Agyenim Boateng claimed the maximum three points for the Rainbows over the GPL debutants in Accra.
The guests took the lead just after the 12th minute following Daniel Afriyie Barnieh’s brilliant strike. He received the pass from midfield gent, Salifu Ibrahim in the penalty box of the host before finding the back of the net.
They came close to double lead after Ansah intercepted a pass and laid it to Barnieh who finds Obeng but goalkeeper Appiah Kubi makes a fine save to deny Hearts the second goal in the 14th minute.
The Rainbows dominated in the first department of the game but went back into the dressing room with a goal lead.
After the break, a beautiful display from the Phobians saw them getting the second goal through Isaac Agyenim Boateng in the 55th minute before Afriyie Barnieh also got a brace after scoring the third goal at the 89th minute through a crossing from a super-sub, Sulley Muntari.
The Lions failed to take revenge over their city rivals following their 2-0 defeat in the first league. The played with ten men from the 37th minute after Rashid Abubakar was red carded.
The Friday afternoon victory has elevated Samuel Boadu’s side back into the top four with 40 points but will have to wait for the results from Aduana Stars and Olympics on Sunday.
Aduana Stars will play against Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park whiles the Olympics take on Ashantigold at the Accra Sports Stadium.
