Captain for the reigning champions of the Ghana Premier League, Fatawu Mohammed has reacted on his drop from Samuel Boadu’s first eleven after their game against Asante Kotoko.
The WAFA graduate has been missing from the starting line-up for the last four games, three in the GPL and the other in the FA Cup against Skyy FC.
The right-back who led the team to lift last season’s GPL and the MTN FA Cup title lost his position to the ex-Basel player following their 1-0 defeat to the league leaders Asante Kotoko in Kumasi.
Since then, Fatawu has watched their last four fixtures of the club from bench with Inkoom making a headline at the right-back position alongside Dennis Korsah at the left-back.
The Rainbow’s captain says he is unfazed by his lack of game time after the Super Clash, stating that it is normal and there should be a rest sometimes for a different player everyday to play for a while.
“I am not injured but it is football. You know that is not everyday will you be featured so sometimes you need to rest. Am still training.” Fatawu told Ghanasportspage.com.
“Sometimes I feel so bad but sometimes too I understand it and if only you and every day the kind of work you are doing you will know that it is normal because is not everyday only Fatawu will play. You need to sit back for someone to also play for a while. Sometimes it is hard but it is the rules governing the work.
“I will get back to the pitch soon. I will be back.”
Following Fatawu’s lack of playing time in recent matches, Mohammed Alhassan has been with the captains arm-banned after their against the Porcupine Warriors.
The ex-RTU defender joined the Phobians in 2013 and was named as the captain after the departure of Inusah Musah in 2018.
