The Head of Player Relations at the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana, Yussif Chibsah has urged Ghanain footballers to abstain from betting and match manipulation.
According to ex-Ghana midfield dynamo, players are not obliged to get into sports betting per the contracts they sign with their clubs.
The former Asante Kotoko stated that betting is a big problem which must be tackled by all stakeholders to keep the reputation of our league.
“When it comes to betting and you can’t rely on rumors unless facts”, he told Ohene-Bampoe Brenya on Happy FM.
“We all know what is happening, the Inter Allies and Ashantigold betting issue. We have spoken to some of the players and others.
“We as PFAG continue to advise the players that any contract they signed there is a clause that prevents them from engaging in sports betting and match manipulation. If they allow people to deceive them it is their career they are jeopardizing. They should be careful and stay away from betting”, he added.
The Ghana Football Association has probed into the alledged betting reports which happed during the game between Inter Allies and Ashanti Gold Football Club in the Ghana Premier League last season.
The GFA is yet announce it verdict on the matter since last year.
