Veteran football administrator and the CEO of former GPL side, Abdul Salam Yakubu has urged the technical team of the Ghana Black Stars to invite ex-U-20 AFCON winner and Hearts of Oak attacker, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh a call up ahead of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World.
Barnieh has been instrumental in Heart of Oak since last season and played a pivotal role when the team won double to break the ten years trophy drought.
Under the management of Always Appiah, Afriyie was handed his first call-up into the Ghana senior team, the Black Stars, ahead of Ghana’s 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup Group G qualifiers against Ethiopia and South Africa. He was one of the five home-based players to make the squad.
Despite his performance, he did not make it to the recent AFCON in Cameroon with the national team but he is still having a great performance in the local league.
Currently, he has scored eight goals in the ongoing Ghana Premier League for the defending champions but his striking prowess has also contributed to more goals for the team this season.
The football administrator is impressed with the performance and believes the young attacker can be featured in the Black Stars for the upcoming World Cup study.
“They should give this young striker, Barnieh the chance to the World Cup. We have to give him the chance to learn. Afriyie Barnieh is very good. He is a fantastic player. He is very fast. He is having all the qualities.
“We have to take him to the World Cup. He is capable of scoring in every game.” Mr. Abdul Salam revealed this on Original FM.
