The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has invited Accra Hearts of Oak Board Member, Alhaji Amadu Moro Brimah and the President of Bechem United, Kingsley Owusu Achau “to assist with investigations aimed at protecting the integrity of the game”, the GFA has announced.
The two football administrators have been invited over comments made in radio interviews, in which they are alleged to have suggested that activities of match manipulation and betting are being practiced by some club officials in the country, as a means of enhancing the financial status of their clubs.
According to a publication by the GFA on Monday, “In an interview with Asempa FM on 19th April, 2022, the President of Bechem United made comments in relation to match manipulation and betting activities by the Premier League Clubs”.
Accra Hearts of Oak Board Member, Alhaji Amadu Moro Brimah on the other hand, “said in an interview with Star FM on Friday, 22nd April, 2022, that betting activities are done by some club officials to better the financial situations of their respective clubs”.
Betting and match manipulations are against the provisions of the GFA Code of Ethics 2019, the GFA Premier League Regulations 2019, as well as the GFA Disciplinary Code 2019.
The GFA has scheduled Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 2pm local time as the date for Alhaji Amadu Moro Brimah to appear before it, while Kingsley Owusu Achau has been scheduled for his turn at 3pm same day at the Secretariat of the GFA.
