Technical Director of Dreams FC, Abdul Karim Zito is of firm believe that his side is in a pole position to go past holder Accra Hearts of Oak to the final of the MTN FA Cup final, using the name Hearts of Oak as a motivating factor.
It’s a week for the FA Cup action and Hearts of Oak will face Dreams FC at the Accra sports stadium on Saturday, and the Phobians are poised to defend the title they won last season, but would have to go past Dreams FC in the final before achieving their aim.
However, Karim Zito believes that Hearts of Oak have nothing motivating them going into the match on Saturday, and he fears the club may go trophiless this season against the backdrop that they may not be able to either win the league or beat Dreams to reach the FA Cup final.
“Last season they won the league and the FA Cup too, but this time around for the league it will be very difficult for them, but fortunately or unfortunately for them I’m meeting them in the FA Cup semi final, so maybe if you don’t two (FA Cup) you go for the one, and unfortunately I’m also going to contest, because is the first time Dreams FC have reached this stage so we are also trying to make it and go to Africa, Karim Zito told ghanasportspage.com in an interview.
On motivation, Zito says Hearts of Oak have nothing to motivate themselves against Dreams FC, but his side will use the name Hearts of Oak to beat them to make news.
“They are still struggling. They are in the semi final and we are also in the semi final, so what is the difference? And with the FA [Cup] it’s anybody’s game, with the FA [Cup] a smaller club can beat you. We will use the name Hearts of Oak to motivate ourselves, but what are they going to use to motivate themselves, tell me. Beating Hearts of Oak is news but Hearts of Oak beating us is no news”, he added.
