According to Accra-based Okay FM, semi-retired Ghanaian footballer Asamoah Gyan has gifted Kwesi Ackon, the kind taxi driver who returned a passenger’s GH¢8,400 a sum of GH¢10,000.
Kwesi Ackon, the taxi driver took over the internet with praises and rewards after it emerged that he had resisted the temptation of keeping the passenger’s money when he had the chance to.
The honest taxi driver is said to have dropped off a woman who sells fish at Mallam Atta Market in Accra at her home on Friday evening.
Asamoah Gyan commented on GH Kwaku’s Instagram post claiming he want to meet the taxi driver.
The woman forgetfully left an amount of GHc8,400 in his taxi and the driver after finding the money drove back to her home the following day to return the cash.
Meanwhile, several Ghanaians have donated monies to the kind taxi driver as a reward for his selfless act.
On Wednesday, the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, gave a sum of GHc20,000 to Mr. Ackon.
Reigning VGMA Artiste of the Year, KiDi has also offered to gift the taxi driver GHc5,000 in acknowledgement of his act.
