Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has made his position clear on the team’s periodic failure to grab some needed results especially when playing at, standing with his players and encouraging them to keep their heads up in their low moments.
The University lecturer, Dr Ogum has stated strong belief in his players despite dropping points against Aduana Stars with just few minutes to final whistle. According to coach Ogum, fans and the media as well as himself must not crucify the players during such low moments, as the same players have carried the team throughout the season, leading the league log for months.
“They have carried us up to where are now”, Ogum told the press following Asante Kotoko’s 1-1 draw at home against Aduana Stars on Sunday.
“I always say this; the same players have gotten us the 55 points and we are 9 points adrift the one behind us (Bechem United). So as a coach, you chastise them, you don’t say things that are unpleasant to them because there are six (6) more games to go”, he said.
However, coach Ogum has sent a clear message to the players regarding what he expects from them as the season draws to a dramatic end.
“I need them to switch on, I need them to stay positive, I need them to stay confident, I need them to have that belief in themselves”, he pleaded.
“What we have to do is to get ready for our training program for the week and make sure our next game we get the maximum points”, he added.
