Accra Hearts of Oak defeated Bibiani Gold Stars by a lone goal in their premier League match week 29 fixture at the Accra sports stadium on Wednesday.
The Phobians won all the three points against the premier league debutants courtesy a lone penalty goal by Samuel Inkoom.
The former FC Basel right back put his side in the lead with just 12 minutes into the first half of the match after Hearts of Oak Benjamin Yorke was adjudged to have been fouled in the God Stars penalty box. Inkoom stepped forward to convert it nicely, putting the ball to the left side of the top corner.
Coach Michael Osei’s Gold Stars proved much a competitive opponent for Hearts of Oak who have found their scoring boots of late especially when playing at the Accra sports stadium.
Gold Stars created few chances as they searched for equaliser, but it wasn’t meant to be as the home side held on to their 1-0 lead till half time.
The second half was much of game management by Hearts of Oak coach Samuel Boadu, introducing new legs to protect the goal.
Both teams failed to find the back of the net as the game ended 1-0 in favour of Accra Hearts of Oak.
Hearts of Oak have now moved to third place on the league table with 47 points, while Gold Stars stay 12th with 38 points.
