Premier League side Ashanti Gold Sporting Club have filed a statement of appeal at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Appeals Committee against its sanctions imposed by the Disciplinary Committee (DC) on grounds of match manipulation.
The GFA’s DC on May 16, 2022 announced its verdict on charges against players and officials of Ashanti Gold for match fixing of a league match against Inter Allies in July 2021 during the 2020/2021 season.
As a result, Ashanti Gold has been demoted to Division Two in accordance with the provisions of the GFA Codes, same as Inter Allies, and also imposed a hefty fines on the club and its officials.
In response to the sanctions, Ashanti Gold stated:
“Ashantigold has reviewed the Decision and being dissatisfied with it, has filed a Notice of Appeal against the Decision to the GFA Appeals Committee”.
