League title holders Accra Hearts of Oak have have issued a club statement on the current medical conditions of players and officials of the club who contracted illness over the past three days.
Admitting to the incident, Hearts of Oak have stated in a statement issued on Thursday that “everyone affected has been given medical attention and are all in stable condition and recovering well”.
The outbreak of the illnesses occurred before Hearts of Oak’s premier league match against Bibiani Gold Stars on Wednesday, but the team managed to win the game with 1-0 scoreline.
According to Hearts of Oak, the cause of the infection is still being investigated.
“Medical tests conducted by the team’s doctors revealed that the affected persons contracted a severe and acute respiratory infections, the source of which is still being investigated”, the said in the statement on Thursday.
