Management of Accra Hearts of are set to probe into Kofi Kordzi’s ‘Sala Game’ participation on Saturday.
The striker was reported to have participated in Chief Imam’s Cup match whiles the Rainbows were hosting Dreams FC in the MTN FA Cup semi final on Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Kordzi would be subjected to suspension should he be found guilty of breaching the rules of the club.
After a picture of Kordzi playing in the ‘Sala Game’ had circulated on the internet, he admitted on Sunday in an interview with Ghanasportspage.com to participating in the said match.
The picture was accompanied by captions accusing him of truancy, by playing “unauthorized match” without permission whiles his club was in action against Dreams FC.
Reacting to the comments he confirmed, “I played but that’s the place I train, he said, speaking to ghanasportspage.com on Sunday.
“That’s where I have my personal training when Hearts is not having a training. It wasn’t intentionally planned because I train with the boys around and it was a personal training before they called for the match.
“It wasn’t my intention. No. It was just a normal personal training and I even went back to watch our game against Dreams FC at home. Sometimes the way people address some issues is not fine. I wouldn’t have returned if Hearts wasn’t on my heart. It is my dream club.”
He insisted, that people are just blowing the issue out of proportion.
“I beseech, this is not any issue. Hearts is my team but how some people will talk, it seems like…No.”
“It was at the Fadama astro-turf. That’s where I have my personal training with some boys. You see sometimes you feel dizzy when you train alone that’s why I train with them.” He explained.
The 27-year old attacker will appear before the management of the club and will face the consequences should he be found guilty according to Kwame Opare Addo, the Communication Director of Hearts of Oak.
He further revealed that Kordzi did not ask for permission before taking part in the competition played at Fadama Astro-turf.
Reacting to the player’s unsportsmanship behaviour on Original FM, he started,
“He did not ask for permission. We will probe into it and whatever comes out from it will be dealt with accordingly.
“If you are working under a company and you don’t ask for permission before doing something they can hold you responsible.” He stated.
The prolific striker is the second top-scorer of the defending champions this season with nine goals in all competitions this season, being surpassed by Daniel Afriyie Barnieh who has so far bagged 10 goals.
