A board member of the Ghana Premier League title holders, Hon. Vincent Odotei Sowah has confirmed Daniel Afriyie Barnieh’s contract extension with the Rainbow family.
Hearts of Oak announced the signing of the young attacker in January 2020 after he had failed to impress their sworn-rivals Asante Kotoko on trials.
He joined the Phobians on a three-year deal from second-tier side Madina Republicans on a transfer deadline day.
Hon. Odotei confirmed the extension of the striker’s contract on Accra-based Asaase Radio as he stated, “Daniel Afriyie Barnieh has agreed on a deal to extend his contract with Accra Hearts of Oak. We had a successful talk and after agreeing on terms, we offered him a contract that reflected those terms. That was done ten days ago.” He confirmed.
After helping Hearts of Oak to win last season’s league title and the FA Cup, Tunisian giants, Esperance Tunis reportedly showed an interest in signing the youngster, launching a bid of $400,000.
Barnieh played an instrumental role in Ghana’s victory as scored a brace to help the Black Satellites to win the U-20 AFCON last year in Mauritania.
He is currently the top scorer of Accra Hearts of Oak in the current season with ten goals in all competitions.
