Tarkwa-based Medeama Sporting Club traveled from the Western part of the country to defeat the Great Olympics by 2-1 on Saturday in a GPL week 30 opener at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Maxwell Abbey Quaye opened the scoring in the 19th minute as Olympics took an early advantage.
The visitors equalized through Vincent Addai Atinga in the 39th to end the first half level.
They returned and secured the success after Kwadwo Asamoah got the winning goal in the 71st minute as no more goals were recorded until full time.
The hosts kept ball-watching as the Mauve and Yellow boys became more of a threat in the second half.
The win takes Medeama to second position on the league table after 30 games on 50 points whilst Olympics are placed 7th position with 43 points.
Medeama could be succeeded by Bechem United or Hearts of Oak should they win their fixtures.
Bechem United will play host to Legon Cities on Sunday with the Rainbows taking on Eleven Wonders at the Techiman on Wednesday.
The fixture was initially scheduled for Monday, May 23rd but it has been adjourned to the midweek due to mass infection at the camp of the Phobians.
