National Division One Zone Two side Samartex 1996 FC have secured qualification to the Ghana Premier League (GPL) to compete in the 2022/2022 season after finishing as champions of Zone Two following a 0-0 draw against Swedru All Blacks in match week 27 fixture of the 2021/22 league season.
After match week 27, Samartex have accrued 58 points from 26 matches, having a game in hand which the points have been forfeited in their favour pending official confirmation, after their opponent for the said match which was to be played at Samereboi, the home grounds of Samartex FC, failed to turn up for the match according to reports.
There are three more matches to be played to end the 2021/22 season of 30 matches, and should the forfeited points be made official, Samartex FC would have been leading the league log of Zone Two with 61 points with three games to spare.
Samartex are leading the Zone Two league table with 58 points now, in addition to their forfeited 3 points +3 goals, which will shoot them up to 61 points in 27 matches before the last three matches to be played. Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs are currently second on the log with 51 points in 26 matches.
Samartex have now been promoted to the Ghana Premier League after 26 years in the lower division.
