Hearts of Oak striker Kofi Kordzi has issued a general apology after receiving two weeks suspension from the management the GPL giants following a violation of contact.
Accra Hearts of Oak suspended the striker for indiscipline after he was found guilty of participating in an unauthorised football match, ‘Sala Game’ whiles the team were playing against Dreams FC in the MTN FA Cup on Saturday, May 14, 2022.
After failing to make the match day squad, Kofi Kordzi opted to go and participate in a football match dubbed “sala games”, played as part of the Islamic holiday celebrations.
The team finally handed the forward a two weeks ban without salary and will also train with the junior team, Auroras.
Kordzi issued an apology on social media after the suspension on Wednesday morning stating, “I want to take this opportunity to issue a public apology for the choices I made weeks ago. I understand that my position as a professional footballer brings the responsibility of displaying the act of professionalism and being a role model .”
Kofi Kordzi, the second top scorer for Hearts of Oak in the ongoing season is struggling to have an enough playing time with Hearts. He last played for the Rainbows during the Ghana Premier League week 25 when they drew 1-1 with Elmina Sharks in Accra. He came in as a substitute to play the last fourteen minutes and has not been featured in 9 Ghana Premier League games this season despite having a good start in the campaign.
