As coach Otto and his technical team are yet to release the list of the Black Stars squad, a close source has indicated to Ghanasportspage.com that former Deportivo Alavez midfielder Mubarak Wakaso and former Juventus forward, Richmond Boakye Yiadom are set to bounce back into the team for the AFCON qualifiers against Madagascar and the Central African Republic on 1st June and 5th June 2022.
Despite being part of Ghana’s squad for the recent AFCON played in Cameroon, Wakaso was sidelined for the three games and ‘excused’ from the Black Stars squad to face Nigeria in the World Cup qualifier playoffs due to injury.
Wakaso got injured in the 1-0 defeat against South Africa in September and aimed to recover for the AFCON in Cameroon but the ex-La Liga player could not make it to represent the nation.
Since he is a key member of the national team, Wakaso is likely to return should Otto Addo includes him in the upcoming games.
The Chinese-based Shenzhen player has bagged 13 goals in 65 appearances for Ghana in his debut in 2012.
Also, Richmond Boakye Yiadom who currently plays as a forward for Israeli Premier League club Beitar Jerusalem is set to return after missing out from the squad that faced Nigeria following the AFCON.
Boakye was a member of Ghana’s 2022 AFCON squad in Cameroon and scored one of Ghana’s consolation goals against Comoros.
In 19 games, the 29-year- old attacker has netted 7 goals for the Black Stars.
Boakye received an international call-up by the Ghana national team for the friendly match against China at the Tianhe Stadium in Guangzhou on 15 August 2012. He scored his first goal for Ghana on his debut, an equalizer in the 80th minute of the match, and also played for Ghana at the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup, winning the bronze medal.
The attacker now has 6 goals in 29 games for Beitar Jerusalem for the 2021/22 season.
