Head coach of Premier League side Bechem United, Kassim Mingle Ocansey has been found guilty of a charge by the Disciplinary Committee (DC) of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for breaching Article 38(8)(c) of the GFA Premier League Regulations, 2019.
In the charge, the GFA quoted, saying;
“During an interview with ghanasportspage.com, the coach made allegations against the GFA and the Disciplinary Committee after the decision on a player (Samuel Osei Kuffour) of your club was published, and stated amongst others that, the GFA and the Disciplinary Committee always treat smaller clubs unfairly and also bend the rules when it’s a small club, a statement you made without proof and brings the game into disrepute”.
According to the GFA, coach Kassim admitted making the said comments during the said interview with ghanasportspage.com, but insists that he did not intend to ”disrespect the GFA”, and that he will choose his words carefully the next time.
To recall, coach Kassim Mingle made the said comments during an interview with ghanasportspage.com, published on April 11, 2022. In the interview, he alleged;
“They (the DC/GFA) always treat the smaller clubs unfairly; that’s what they do”, Kassim Mingle alleged, speaking to ghanasportspage.com.
“When the players of the big clubs do something they don’t talk about it, but when a small club’s player does it then they hype it on social media, then they take some measures against them. The players of the big clubs do more serious things than what these smaller clubs’ players do but when they do nobody talks about it, which is not fair”.
In its ruling, the DC has found coach Mingle Ocansey guilty of the comments, and has imposed on him a fine of Four Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC4,000). He has as well been warned of good behaviour as any further misconduct on his part “shall receive a more severe punishment”.
