Asante Kotoko have been crowned champions of the 2021/2022 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season, dethroning holders Accra Hearts of Oak to clinch their 25th league title, but head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has confessed that task involved to be head coach of the Porcupine Warriors is not one for people to be envious of.
It is the first time in his coaching career where he has guided a football club to win a major trophy, and the University lecturer has revealed how demanding it is to be a head coach of Asante Kotoko.
The Porcupine Warriors became champions of the premier league after securing a 1-1 drawn game with Ashantigold at the Obuasi Len Clay sports stadium on Thursday. Coach Ogum, when asked of his message to the Asante Kotoko faithfuls after leading the club to its first league title in the past seven years, game the glory to God for granting him the needed wisdom and strength to carry the team this far.
“First of all I will say glory be to the Almighty for granting me the strength and the wisdom to be able to lead such a great club. It’s not easy to be a Kotoko head coach; if you are anywhere envying any head coach of Kotoko you better stop it”.
Ogum explained that the seat of Asante Kotoko head coach is a hot one, and it is one that no one should sit somewhere to easily be envious of.
“The heat is not as easy as you see it, so it’s not easy, that’s why I’m saying that to God be the glory for granting me the strength, the wisdom, the insight to be able to manage such a great team to success”, Ogum told StarTimes after the game”, he added.
