The title of “Mahefalor” has been conferred on the Arsenal star by Konor of the Krobo Traditional Area, Nene Sakite II.
The title “Mahefalor” means Defender of Krobo Traditional Area.
Partey was born in Krobo Odumase of Lower Manya Krobo Municipal District in the Eastern Region.
The Ghanaian star developed a passion for football and played for a lower-side called Odometah Youth and other local clubs in his area before passing through Division One League side, Tema Youth to make a move to Europe to begin his professional career in 2012
He signed a contract with Atlético Madrid in that same year, after a short spell with Leganés, and was subsequently moved to the reserves a year later. On 10 March 2013, Partey was called up to the main squad for the match against Real Sociedad. However, he remained unused in the eventual 0–1 home defeat.
He was later loaned to Mallorca and Almeria to play two seasons.
He returned to Atlético in 2015, with whom he won the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Super Cup in 2018. In 2020, he joined Arsenal in a transfer worth £45 million (€50 million), becoming the most expensive Ghanaian player of all time.
Partey has played at the Africa Cup of Nations three times for Ghana (2017, 2019, and 2021). He was named into the CAF Team of the Year in 2018 and won Ghana Player of the Year in 2018 and 2019.
The highly-rated EPL midfielder scored Ghana’s only goal in their 1-1 draw against Nigeria to qualify for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.
He is not part of Ghana’s squad for the AFCON 2023 qualifiers due to the injury he sustained weeks ago in their game against Crystal Palace in the EPL.
