• Ghana to face Central African Republic on Sunday
Black Stars deputy coach, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has explained why the technical team dropped GPL duo Daniel Afriyie Barnieh of Hearts of Oak and Augustine Okrah of Bechem United from the squad for the trip to Angola to face Central African Republic whiles Dennis Korsah who was handed a late call-up after the win over Central African Republic has been included for the match squad.
Barnieh and Bechem United’s Okrah were the only Ghana Premier League players initially named to the squad for qualifiers against Madagascar and the Central African Republic, and also the mini-tournament in Japan.
As revealed by the coach, Dennis Korsah has flown with the team to play their second group game of the AFCON qualifiers in Angola against the Central African Republic.
Otto Addo’s decision to lay off Barnieh and Okrah came as a big surprise to many football-loving fans for an undisclosed reason.
However, his deputy manager, Didi Dramani has stuck his neck out to explain why the local boys were dropped from the team.
Barnieh, the youngster is undoubtedly one of the most consistent players in the GPL, scoring 8 league goals for Hearts of Oak in 25 appearances this season in the Ghanaian top-flight league as well as Okrah who has also produced 17 goals with an impeccable performance after joining the Hunters from the current leaders Asante Kotoko which guided to get into Otto Addo’s squad for the AFCON qualifiers.
Also, Bristol City’s Antoine Semenyo has been omitted from the squad list due to injury while VFL Bochum attacker Christopher Antwi Adjei will be joining the team in Japan for the 2022 Kirin Cup.
Explaining why the two local prolific forwards were dropped, Coach Didi stated, “Remember the squads were prepared for Madagascar/CAR and the two Japan games. Some players can not play a full game and others needed to be seen obviously before September. Mas- Ud Didi Dramani explained to Ghanasportspage.com.
“Players need to be taken care of to observed to make decisions and also others need to be considered for vacation before preseason after a long season.” He added.
Ghana will play CAR on Sunday, June 5 on matchday 2 of the qualifiers.
The Black Stars left the shores of the country on Friday evening for the game on Sunday.
