Asante Kotoko forward Franck Mbella Etouga is a good striker, bit does not in any way come close to the quality of former Hearts of Oak forward Ishmael Addo, Joe Hendricks has yelled.
Etouga has hit the ground running as soon as he kicked off with his first season in the Ghana Premier League for Asante, having scored 21 goals in the season with two matches to end the season. The Cameroonian is just a goal away from equalling Ishmael Addo’s 22 goal haul, which has stood for years.
The exploit of Etouga has triggered comparisons between himself and Ishmael Addo, who was a prolific scorer during his playing days at Accra Hearts of Oak.
Speaking to Accra based radio Angel FM, former Asante Kotoko defender Joe Hendricks has stated that the quality of Etouga is yet to reach the level of Ishmael Addo, who proved his prowess at the continental level for Accra Hearts of Oak for six good seasons.
Hendricks is impressed with the quality displayed by Etouga so far, but he believes that the Cameroonian is yet to meet great defenders on the continent to prove himself, and cannot be compared to Addo’s exploits which was tried and tested at the highest levels.
“Mbella is a good striker but he is yet to meet quality defenders on the continent. It’s too early to compare him to Ishmael Addo who was consistent for Hearts of Oak for more than six seasons”, Hendricks said as quoted by kickgh.com.
