All fixtures for the Ghana Premier League match week 33 have been scheduled to kick off simultaneously on Sunday, June 12, 2022, with the exception of the fixture between league champions Asante Kotoko and Elmina Sharks, the GFA has announced.
According to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Asante Kotoko will officially be crowned champions of the 2021/22 league season and presented with the trophy during their last home match against Elmina Sharks on Sunday. Consequently, the match between the Porcupine Warriors and Elmina Sharks has been scheduled to kick off at 6:00pm in the evening, a time when all other league matches on the day would have been over.
The football Association has therefore “directed all Referees and Match Commissioners to ensure all matches kick off simultaneously at 3:00 pm at various league centres”.
The idea behind the move, is to probably ensure that the league champions gain the needed attention from the media for adequate coverage, addition much colour to the event.
