Golden Eagles of Nigeria have beaten Ghana 4-2 in their WAFU zone B U-17 championship opening game in Cape Coast, Ghana.
The Golden Eagles dictated the pace from the blast of the whistle at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Saturday late afternoon.
Emmanuel Michael opened the scoring for the Golden Eagles in the 12th minute of play with a classic free-kick.
Precious Williams, Jibril Aziz and substitute Light Ike thereafter scored the other three to ensure that the Nigerian team took all the points.
The Black Starlets had the consolation from Abdul Razak Salifu and the captain Collins Agyemang who converted a last minute penalty.
Ghana will have to beat Togo in their last group game to secure a ticket for the next stage.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.
The Black Starlets would aim for a ticket to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations after crashing out at the Group stages in the last edition in Togo.
