Division One Zone three side Kotoku Royals have booked a place in the 2022/2023 Ghana Premier League after securing a point against Tema Youth in their last fixture of the season on Sunday.
The match played at the Tema sports stadium ended 0-0, making Kotoku Royals extend their lead on the table to 63 with Liberty Professionals finishing with 61 points.
Before the game, Kotoko Royals needed to pick a point in Tema and hope that Liberty Professionals fail to beat Susubiribi, a wish which they got perfectly after Liberty drew blank.
The Eastern region based Kotoku Royals have gained their first ever promotion to the Ghanaian top flight football, and will be the first club from the region to compete in the premier league since 2007 when Power FC were relegated from the top flight and have since not returned.
