Accra Great Olympics made light weight of city rivals Accra Hearts of Oak by subjecting the dethroned league champions to a humiliating 3-0 defeat in their Ghana Premier League (GPL) Match week 33 fixture at the Accra sports stadium on Sunday.
Accra Hearts of Oak have been without any motivation to play their remaining matches in the league since their arch rivals Asante Kotoko were confirmed champions of the 2021/2022 league campaign, losing in all matches since.
Accra Great Olympics crued to a convincing 3-0 win over the Phobians on Sunday afternoon, thanks to two goals Yusif Abdul Razak and one from Amos Acheampong.
Coach Annor Walker’s boys opened the scores in the 19th minute through Amos, before Yusif Abdul Razak grabbed his first, the second for the home side to end the first half with 2-0 lead.
Coach Samuel Boadu’s Hearts of Oak failed to find antidotes to the attacking potency of Great Olympics even after the recess, as they conceded the third goal from a brilliant header from Razak.
It was really a bad day at the office for Hearts of Oak centre back Mohammed Al Hassan as two goals were scored after he was beaten by his marker.
It was the penultimate game of the season, and it’s left to be seen whether or not Hearts of Oak will celebrate a win again in the premier league before their last competitive match of the season against in-form Bechem United in the MTN FA Cup final in Kumasi on June 26.
