Real Tamale United have confirmed their stay in the Ghana Premier League after securing a remarkable 4-1 win in Accra against Hearts of Oak on the final day of the 2021/22 season.
Hearts of Oak’s Suraj Seidu was able to put the host upfront during the early stages but RTU came back strongly to thrash them following the goals from Ronald Frimpong, David Abagna and Mohammed Alhassan’s own goal.
RTU restored parity through Ronald Frimpong after connecting to a cross from Abagna on the 17th minute.
Keeping their faith to end the season in style, they fought to break through Hearts defense once again as referee Joseph Kwofie blew his whistle for penalty against Hearts which was coolly converted by the skipper David Abagna before Ronald Frimpong got his second goal to snatch 3-1 lead for the break.
Elsewhere where, the fourth goal came when Shafiq Muntari’s kick was flipped by Hearts captain, Mohammed Alhassan on the 85th minute.
The 4-1 win against Hearts of Oak is a great result for the Northern side, and they will celebrate and enjoy for avoiding relegation.
It took them eight years to make a return into the Ghana Premier League after they were relegated some years back.
