Yaw Annor has expressed delight after claiming the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League Golden Boot.
The Ashantigold winger ended the season with 22 goals in 28 games to equal Ishmael Addo’s 21-years GPL goal king record.
Yaw Annor added two to his tally in Sunday’s 2-2 draw against Bibiani Gold Stars to surpass Kotoko’s Frank Etouga Mbella who scored 21 goals.
The 24-year old player has enjoyed a stunning season at the Len Clay despite his sides failure to finish in the top four.
Speaking after grabbing the Ghana Premier League 2021/22 Golden Boot, Annor told Original FM: “I will thank God and applaud my teammates. Is not easy from day one and how competitive the league was. The feeling is great.
“Etouga was not giving me a tough time but I was putting pressure on him.
“Is a great feeling. Is not easy to break 21-years record as winger.”
Asked about his toughest opponent of the season, he named the GPL debutants, Accra Lions as the most promising side that gave them a good competition.
“Accra Lions gave us a tough time both home and away. They gave us a tough game.”
Yaw Annor is having a running contract with the demoted side that will expire in 2023 but his stunning performance could earn him a move to one of the top GPL clubs before the start of the 2022/23 season.
