Accra Hearts of Oak have booked a clash with their rivals in the 2021/22 Ghana Super Cup after their spectacular turnaround against Bechem United last night.
Birthday boy, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh snatched the winning goal as Hearts of Oak defended their MTN FA Cup trophy after defeating Bechem United 2-1 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday. The Phobians rallied from behind to record a 2-1 victory over the Hunters at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
The victory has opened the door for the Rainbows to participate in the next CAF Confederations Cup. However, there will be a Super Cup between Asante Kotoko, the GPL champions and the FA Cup champions, Hearts of Oak.
It will be the fourth super clash of the year between the two GPL giants. Both are tied with a win in their last three fixtures with a draw. Hearts, won this year’s edition of the President’s Cup after a 2-1 victory over the Porcupines at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Ahead of the 2022 Super Cup, the deputy captain of the Rainbows Mohammed Alhassan is highly optimistic of putting the team on the right path against Asante Kotoko despite their current performance.
Speaking about their preparations for their African campaign and the next Super Clash against the Porcupine Warriors, the former WAFA defender stated;
“As our coach always say, we should take it match after match. We are focused and we are preparing massively towards the Super Clash against Kotoko,” the experienced centre-back told Original FM.
The Ghana Football Association has announced 4th September 2022 as the date for the Super Cup clash between Premier League winner and the FA Cup winner.
