The club licensing Committee of the Ghana FA has approved the license applications for the 2021/2022 FA Cup Champions, Accra Hearts of Oak, and 2021/2022 Ghana Premier League winners Asante Kotoko to participate in the upcoming CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.
The CLD opened an application earlier in the month for clubs willing to participate in the next season’s CAF Inter-Club Competitions to apply for a license in line with the new CAF directives and timetable.
Three(3) Ghanaian clubs shown interest to apply for the license to compete in Africa Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak, and Bechem United. But Bechem United withdrew from the process after Hearts of oak defeated them 2-1 in the MTN FA Cup finals.
Following the process, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko have received their official award letter with the necessary recommendations. Both clubs have been given a deadline of July 31, 2022, by the committee to fix all defects and comply with the recommendations on their March venues.
Hearts of Oak chooses to play their home games at the Accra Sports Stadium whilst Asante Kotoko selected Kumasi Baba Yara Stadium. The Ghana FA has since transmitted all the documents to CAF by the CAF Inter-Club Licensing Regulations.
Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko are to represent Ghana in next season’s CAF inter-club competitions, both clubs are to register their players in the CAF CMS with the support of the IT department of the Ghana Football Association.
