Head coach of the Local Black Stars, Annor Walker has named Accra Hearts of oak duo, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, and Gladson Awako to lead the team as skippers.
The gaffer is yet to disclose the main and the deputy captain of the team.
The MTN FA Cup winners were reportedly appointed as the skippers of Annor Walker’s side following their great performance since joining the team after the season.
Barnieh and Awako will be expected to change the trend and lead the team to next year’s edition.
Despite the reports that the two Hearts of Oak players have been appointed as the skippers of the side, Coach Annor Walker is yet to voice out for confirmation.
Speaking to Ghanasportspage.com he stated, “I haven’t selected my captain yet. But I selected Awako to be the captain going into Saturday’s friendly game and the reason why I gave it to Barnieh was that Awako was starting from the bench.
“Maybe withing the week up to next week, I will see who will be the captain. So far I’ve not elected my captains yet.”
Walker and his 28-man provisional squad are currently in Prampram for camping ahead of the qualifiers.
They will host Benin in the first leg encounter on the weekend of July 22-24 with the return fixture slated for the weekend of July 29-31, 2022.
The Black Stars B finished 2nd in Cote D’Ivoire 2009 and South Africa 2014.
