Coach Annor Walker has provided positive update from the camp of the Black Galaxies as they face their biggest test of 2023 CHAN qualifying so far.
Ghana will face Benin in the Western Zone B qualifiers and head coach Annor Walker has been speaking about preparations ahead of the qualifiers.
The Great Olympics boss is highly optimistic that the team will make it for the final tournament once they have enjoyed good run in their preparations.
He gave Ghanaians the assurance that he will do all he can to qualify the team after failing to play in the last three editions.
The 2011 FA Cup and Super Cup winner also opened up on when to name the team’s skipper for the tourney.
However, Hearts of Oak duo, Afriyie Barnieh and Gladson Awako were reportedly appointed as the skippers but as revealed to Ghanasportspage.com, the gaffer is yet to make an official announcement to the media space.
Whiles speaking in an exclusive interview with GSP1 following their departure from Accra to Cape Coast, Annor Walker said: “We’ve gone far in terms of preparations. We are moving to the Cape Coast Sports Stadium where we will continue our training until next week Sunday. So far so good the players are responding well. Everything is going on well. We need to be backed with prayers for us to win. I am also doing whatever that I am supposed to do to qualify the team.
“I can assure you that we will qualify. For the captaincy role you will hear from me on Monday and I will announce that from next week,” he concluded.
The winner from the upcoming fixtures will advance to the next round where they will face Nigeria which the 1st Leg and 2nd Leg matches scheduled to take place in August and September respectively.
The Local Black Stars reached the final of the inaugural competition in 2009 and in 2014 in South Africa.
