Hearts of Oak are reportedly considering a move for Karela United captain, Kwadwo Addai, Bechem United midfielder Francis Twene, Legon Cities’ Jonah Attuquaye, Tamale City center-back, Aliko Charles Baka, and goalkeeper Eric Ofori Antwi ahead of the upcoming season.
According to GSP1, the FA Cup champions are planning to sign the aforementioned GPL players that will see them beefing up their squad for the 2022/23 CAF Confederations Cup.
The Rainbows are hoping to sign a minimum of seven players for the new season (a goalkeeper, two center-backs, a defensive midfielder, an attacking midfielder, and two strikers).
GSP1 brings light on some key players who are likely to join the club in the ongoing transfer window.
For Ofori Antwi, the FA Cup record winners have opened talks with the 27-year-old former Legon Cities goalkeeper.
He terminated his contract with the Royals after the season.
The former Asante Kotoko glovesman switched camp to the capital based top-flight from Tarkwa-based Medeama Sporting Club on a two-year deal but he is no longer interested in honoring the contract. Antwi, 27, is also a target for the newly promoted GPL side, Nsoatremang FC.
A reliable source says the goalkeeper and his management are asking for the increment of the offer from the Phobians but they are yet to respond.
Alawa has an experience of almost a decade in the Ghanaian top-flight league, having played for Amidaus Professionals, Asante Kotoko, Medeama SC, and Legon Cities.
On the other hand, the Phobians will hope to augment their squad with two center-backs. Already, the team has reportedly finalized the deal with WAFA skipper Konadu Yiadom but they are also monitoring Karela United captain Kwadwo Addai and Ivorian international, Aliko Charles Baka Junior from Division One League side, Tamale City. Aliko has been in Ghana for almost four years. He is also the highest paid player at the Tamale based-club.
Elsewhere, in the midfield, Francis Twene of Bechem United and Jonah Attuquaye are favorites to join the three times African champions.
Reports claim the Hunters are reluctantly willing to sell the player for $50,000 this summer to help raise much-needed money. Meanwhile, they are hoping to maintain the likes of Clinton Duodu and Samurai Osei Kuffuor.
Medeama SC is also close to snatching the midfielder to Tarkwa.
However, there are ongoing talks between Hearts of Oak and Jonah Attuquaye. Asante Kotoko also is said to have an interest in the midfielder. R
