The 2022 GHALCA Top Six competition will be played at the Kumasi Baba Yara Sports, the vice chairman of the association, John Ansah has confirmed.
With the league champions, Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak heading towards to the CAF inter-club competitions and for sponsorship reasons, the Ghana League Clubs Association has opted to play Top Six instead of Top Four.
Karela United, Bechem United, Medeama and Great Olympics are the other participants.
At the end of last season, one of the GPL giants, Hearts of Oak unfortunately could not finish in the top four of the Ghanaian top-flight league but fought to win the MTN FA Cup after beating Bechem United.
After weeks of deliberations, GHALCA has agreed to stage the top six tournament and the venue to host the competition will be the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
However, the GHALCA has said they will camp all the six clubs in the Ashanti Region for the competition which is scheduled for 14th August to 21st August, 2022.
The vice chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association, John Ansah in an interview with Wontumi Tv said, “All the games will be played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi and all the clubs will be camped there.
“Definitely, when you are playing in Kumasi you need to be camped. All the clubs will be in Ashanti Region. The date is 14th to 21st August.
“The format for the competition will be announced soon,” he stated.
