Sharom Esinam Sampson opens up on her decision to play for Ghana

Black Princesses forward Sharom Esinam Sampson, who was born to Ghanaian parents in Tamale but raised in Sweden from her childhood to date, has disclosed in an interview with Ghanasportspage.com why she decided to play Ghana ahead of the Swedish women’s national football team.

The 19-year-old striker who is currently in camp with the Black Princesses in preparation for the FIFA Women’s U-20 World Cup in Costa Rica next month has been the talk of the town and the toast of every media house in the country since the squad assembled this month.

She has opened up on why she left the shores of Sweden to represent the African nation, saying Ghana is her motherland.

Esinam also made a positive revelation on how she was received since day one of joining Ben Forkuo’s side.

She also expressed happiness for being with the Black Princesses ahead of the Women’s U-20 World Cup 2022 in Costa Rica.

“The reception has been was wonderful. You know I haven’t been here for long so I was pretty nervous coming here but the team welcomed me very well.

“I’m super excited. The preparations are getting us ready for where we are supposed to be like every training is super hard. We are working together and we working in a very positive direction.”

Quizzed on her decision to play for Ghana, she answered; “Ghana is my motherland. All of me represent Ghana so of course, I will choose Ghana.”
