Sadio Mane and Asisat Oshoala were crowned as African Player of the Year and African Women’s Player of the Year at the CAF Awards 2022 held in Rabat, Morocco.
This year’s edition of the CAF Awards celebrated African footballers and officials who distinguished themselves during the 2021/22 campaign after two years due to the COVID-19.
Sadio Mane was crowned the African Player of the Year ahead of his former Liverpool teammate Mohammed Salah and his compatriot Edouard Mendy.
For the Women’s category, Nigerian forward Asisat Oshoala was named the player of the Year for the fifth time in her career.
For the Inter-club Player of the Year, Egypt and Al Ahly goalkeeper, Mohamed El Shenawy won the prize.
The Men’s Young Player of the Year award went to Pape Matar Sarr from Senegal whilst Bayana Bayana coach Desiree Ellis and Senegal coach Alliou Cisse picked the Coach of the Year male and female respectively.
However, Ghana’s Evelyn Badu win the Women’s Young Player of the Year and Inter-club Player of the Year awards.
