The story of Prosper Narteh Ogum still continues after stepping down as Asante Kotoko head coach.
The resignation of the just ended GPL winner is the trending story in the Ghanaian football fraternity.
Ogum who joined the club from WAFA after the 2020/21 season, tendered his resignation on Wednesday afternoon after a meeting with the technical team of the Board and the Management.
This follows the departure of some key players like Mudasiru Salifu, Fabio Gama and Kwame Baah whiles the club is hoping to make amends in the upcoming CAF Champions League.
However, the former Ashanti Regional Circles Chairman, Obeng Sekyere has angrily reacted to the shocking story of the club, admitting it will affect them barely three weeks before the start of the team’s pre-season.
Speaking to Accra-based Original FM, the staunched Kotoko fan stated that the lecturer loves the team and he cannot just resign without any misunderstanding or issues.
According to the former Regional Circles chairman, they are yet to receive an official letter from the manager but they will investigate to find out the reason behind Ogum’s resignation.
“We were shocked after hearing the news except those who are not the good supporters of the club.
“Though we haven’t seen an official letter from the coach but verbally he has resigned. We are not happy about it.
“I think he is yet to write it and if it is true then it will affect the club going into Africa once he has won the league and preparing us for Africa.
“There are certain things that must be disclosed and get solved.
“They are claiming that the coach has planned to bring in seventeen players and one of the board members quizzed him if he can only bring 3 million dollars.
“If it is true then how can a board member tell a coach to bring 3million dollars?
“This coach loves the club so much. He can’t just resign without any issues.
“Almost 80 percent of Kotoko fans support whoever comes on board as coach or whatever.
“If we find out the reason why the coach has resigned we won’t forgive them,” Obeng Sekyere known as Chairman K5 stated.
Asante Kotoko will represent Ghana in the upcoming CAF Champions League but it is a shocking story and a sad news for the club ahead of the competition which is scheduled to kick off in September.
Also, their leading attacker, Frank Etouga Mbella is being chased by three top clubs both in Africa and Europe and it is likely for the player to say goodbye to the Porcupines.
