Black Galaxies head coach, Annor Walker has named his starting lineup to face Benin in their CHAN qualifier preliminary round first leg.
Ghana will play Benin in a two-legged playoff clash set for today and next week, with the winner qualifying to play Nigeria in the final round.
Playing as the host, the 2009 finalists are hoping to snatch the three points before the second leg.
Ghana has suffered to play in the last three editions of the CHAN tournament, being eliminated twice by Burkina Faso in the qualifiers.
The Black Galaxies made a historic final appearance at the first edition in Cote D’Ivoire 2009 following a 2-0 defeat to the Democratic Republic of Congo. Ghana crashed out of the 2011 tournament in Sudan after going three matches without a win at the Group stage with the team’s last appearance coming in 2014 when the Black Galaxies lost 4-3 to Libya on penalties after a nerve-wracking goalless draw in regulation time.
Coach Annor Walker has a huge task of ensuring that Ghana makes it to the tournament in Algeria. But that wouldn’t come cheap as the team needs to surpass two crucial hurdles against Benin to scale through to the next phase.
Ahead of the game, the head coach has released his starting line-up to commence the game.
Captain Awako, Konadu Yiadom, Afriyie Barnieh, Imoro Ibrahim, Mohammed Alhassan, and others are the men deployed to start against Benin this afternoon at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
The game is scheduled to kick off at exactly 16:00GMT (4:00 PM local time).
