Ghanaian physical trainer Francis Totti Laryea has advised footballers to have an enough rest and a good diet after training.
Athletes understand the importance of exercise training for optimal performance and improvement. However, rest, recovery and eating well is also an important aspect of an exercise program because it allows the body time to repair and strengthen itself in between workouts. It also allows the athlete to recover, both physically and psychologically.
Sleeping is another important aspect of rest and recovery when it comes to sports performance. Athletes who are sleep deprived are at risk of losing aerobic endurance and may experience subtle changes in hormone levels, which can lead to higher levels of cortisol (a stress hormone) as well as a decrease in human growth hormone, which is active during tissue repair.
The experienced physical trainer Francis Totti Laryea, the CEO of Train Like A Pro in an interview with HSTV stated, “In Africa a player might close from a training and eat any type of food like Banku (a Ghanaian dish) or gari just because of keeping him satisfied for a long-term but as player you must take some juice after training. You can take banana, watermelon. It can boost your energy.
“You have to also get an enough rest and eat well. They should eat more vegetables.
“Working harder without an enough rest and good diet will have an effect on you. It is affecting a lot of players. You have to eat for the muscles to show up.
“It is very important. As a player you have to eat well,” he divulged.
The professional trainer is ever ready to work any team or players within and outside Ghana.
He formerly trained Ghanaian defender, John Boye – Al-Fayha, Saudi Arabia, Gladson Awako – Hearts of Oak, Ghana and Clifford Aboagye – Liga MX club Puebla, Mexico.
