Confederations of African Football has named Accra Hearts of Oak among the clubs excluded from the first preliminary stage of the 2022/23 CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
The Rainbows will not be playing in the first qualification round in the upcoming season’s campaign as reported by the football governing body in Africa.
The MTN FA Cup champions is among the thirteen (13) clubs that will not play in the first preliminary round of the 2022/23 CAF Confederation Cup.
The draw for the 2022-2023 TotalEnergies CAF Interclub competitions Preliminary Rounds will be conducted on Tuesday, 09 August 2022 in Cairo, Egypt at 16h00 local time.
Hearts of Oak is the only Ghanaian club to compete in the Confederations Cup next season.
The maiden winners of the competition have struggled to make it into the group stages for almost a decade.
After they had eliminated from the CAF Champions League last season by WAC of Morocco, they couldn’t make an impact in the Confederations Cup following a 4-2 defeat to JS Saoura of Algeria.
Their rivals, Asante Kotoko will also represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League in the 2022/23 season.
The highlighted teams will be exempted from the first round of the preliminary stage in the CAF Inter-Club competitions for the 2022/2023 season.
